SeaWheeze Half-Marathon is on this weekend, road closures in effect

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) — Roughly 10,000 runners are up bright and early this morning to hit the wet pavement in this weekend’s ‘Sea-Wheeze’ Half Marathon and there are numerous road closures happening all around the area because of it.

In Coal Harbour, Downtown, and in Chinatown, the run will finish around 9 a.m. this morning. Organizers say for Coal Harbour residents west of Thurlow Street to use Jervis Street to exit and enter their area and to give yourself extra time to get places.

In False Creek, Kitsilano, the West End and Stanley Park, the race will go until about 11 a.m. and road closures are in effect for Pacific Boulevard from Pat Quinn Way to Quebec Street. Granville Street is closed from the seawall to Pacific Street and the Burrard Bridge is also shut down this morning. In addition, the Seawall is closed to pedestrian and cyclists from Carrall Street to Granville Street.

Further details on road closures and alternate routes can be found on the SeaWheeze website. Tune into NEWS 1130 to get your latest on local traffic

Also on Saturday night, the SeaWheeze Festival is taking place and road closures will be in effect from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. The Seawall will be closed from English Bay at Bidwell St. to Lumberman’s Arch and Stanley Park Drive will be reduced to one lane at certain areas.

The festival is headlined by Los Angeles DJ and producer Diplo and Vancouver native Felix Cartal. There will also be a yoga session with Janet Stone and more music by DJ Drez.
